Interstandards manages five Website Quality Standards, which are:

- Electronic business – specification for website content
- Electronic business – specification for website advertising
- Electronic business – specification for website security
- Electronic business – specification for website engineering

Who created the Private Specifications?
The Website Quality Standards were created by Interstandards team in association with the British Standards Institution (BSI).

Who owns the Intellectual Property of the Website Quality Standards?
The Website Quality Standards have been prepared and published by Interstandards, which retains its full ownership and copyright. Interstandards reserve the right to withdraw or amend any of the Website Quality Standards.

Why are they called Private Specifications?
They are called Private because they were prepared especially for Interstandards to be used only by websites who request to acquire Interstandards Quality Certificate.

How were the Website Quality Standards accredited?
During the development of each Private Specification, a steering group and a review panel for each Standard were formed which consisted of a wide range of market experts who were consulted about the content of the corresponding Private Specification.

How frequently will Interstandards update the Website Quality Standards?
The Website Quality Standards will be reviewed at intervals not exceeding two years, and any amendments arising from the review will be published as an amended Private Specification.

Website Quality Standards changing, how can a certified website maintain its compliance to the Standards?
Interstandards guarantee that changes to its Website Quality Standards will occur no more frequently than once every two years. However, a certified website will be handed over the updated version of the Private Specification and given the enough time to comply as appropriate.

Does any of the five Website Quality Standards require, or provide recommendation toward, the use of a certain technology or product?
The Website Quality Standards are vendor neutral and product neutral. Generic terms are used in preference to brand names to ensure impartiality.

How do I know if the requirements within the five Website Quality Standards are applicable to my website and the type of services I’m offering to my users?
The Website Quality Standards are modular, hence, they are applicable to all websites regardless of size, type of services or products provided. However, certain specifications may not apply to all websites. In such cases, the website will be required to comply only with those subjects that are relevant to their business. A brief description that justifies the non-compliance to a specific requirement shall be presented.

No, the Website Quality Standards are totally optional to comply with. They are mandatory only to those who request to acquire Interstandards Quality Certificate.
